The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has licensed 41 Digital Credit Providers (DCPs) pushing the total number of licensed digital lenders to 126.
The CBK says over 700 firms have expressed interest in being licensed offer digital lending services in Kenya since the regulation was initiated in March 2022.
“Other applicants are at different stages in the process, largely awaiting the submission of requisite documentation. We urge these applicants to submit the pending documentation expeditiously to enable completion of the review of their applications,” says the CBK in a statement.
