
A major boost for local manufacturing, jobs and Kenya’s industrial growth

In what has been touted as a major boost for ‘Made-in-Kenya’, K-Elec Kenya, a subsidiary of the Seoul-based Korean technology company K-Elec, has officially launched its new electronics assembly factory at Sarin Industrial Park, Godown 4, Syokimau, in Nairobi.
The event, seen as marking a significant milestone for Kenya’s manufacturing sector brought together key government and diplomatic leaders, underscoring the importance of this investment to Kenya’s industrial agenda.
Hon. Lee Kinyanjui, Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, H.E. Kang Hyung-shik, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kenya, John Tanui, Principal Secretary for ICT and the Digital Economy, Belio Kipsang, Principal Secretary for Immigration and Citizen Services, and Abubakar Hassan, Principal Secretary, State Department for Investment Promotion, among other distinguished guests from government and industry, all graced the event. The strong presence highlighted the strong partnership between Kenya and Korea in advancing technology-driven manufacturing.
The grand opening, marks the first time K-Elec products will be assembled on Kenyan soil, unlocking faster production timelines, reduced consumer costs, and increased access to high-quality electronics.

The new assembly facility represents a strong vote of confidence in Kenya’s economy, aligning with the national agenda of boosting foreign direct investment, creating skilled jobs, and strengthening local manufacturing capabilities.

The Syokimau plant will create new employment opportunities across manufacturing, engineering, quality control, logistics, and after-sales service. K-Elec also announced plans for ongoing skills development programs, offering Kenyan technicians access to specialized Korean-led training in modern assembly technologies.

By shifting production closer to the market, K-Elec aims to significantly reduce shipping costs and delivery times. This translates directly into more affordable premium electronics for Kenyan consumers without compromising on the brand’s globally recognized Korean standards.
